Don't be afraid. Once you buy a licensed operating system, it's yours forever. It will be 10 forever.
I already bought two 8 and three 7 this century :-) all licensed...

Use what you have and don't think about 10 for another 5 years) Comparing 10 and 8 I realised that 8 requires many times less resources than 10. So better 8 and 8.1 as always ruined by mcrosoft as it always does after admiration.
