And non-dummies, Intel, Corsair is the preferred operating system.
And it depends on the budget...
In my town, more often, for example, Operators put Hynix, Kingston and Samsung with NCP, (in descending order) Corsair and Patriots are rare.

The processor is Intel Core 2 Duo E7200.
I recently got a Corsair PC6400 RAM with good timings (4-4-4-12), 2 blocks of 2 gigs each(like this one). It's not much use yet, apart from the memory size itself. But hope to upgrade my gem and slightly overclock it, so that its FSB will be synchronized with the FSB of the memory.
Not looking at AMD, though it might be worth it.
P.S. OCZ is a good memory manufacturer too, by the way.

Intel® beats AMD in counting tests.
At Intel® one weakness - slow cache, so the stones are regularly underloaded (I'm on P-4 could not load a stone to 100%).
The same quality can be given as an advantage, as Intel® hardly ever works at full speed, so it can work for twenty-four hours without errors,
that AMD cannot do (in any case in a day or two it will ask to restart).

Strange. Imho necessity of reboot has the least relation to processor (first you need to look for problems with software (as CPU does what it is required), then with other hardware - memory, etc.).
I use AMD processors for already 10 years (my first computer was an AMD K6-2 300 MHz) but I haven't any problems. Main computer - AMD Athlon x2 6000+ && 3 Gb of Kingston memory works fine for weeks (with UPS). Secondary computer - AMD Athlon XP 1500+ && 512 Mb of memory (unknown firmware) - sometimes freezes hard (probably it is connected with some blown capacitors on motherboard near memory - no time to check; no problem software was found).
