Just in case I repeat my question - what does it mean to trade against the market?

It means to be an under-examined person who does not understand basic things.

Any other questions?

Svinozavr:

This is in lieu of a thank you... )))

God be with you.

I apologise, I must have misunderstood.

Thank you )))

dmmikl86:

The trend is set on the higher timeframe, you trade on the lower timeframe.

"Trading against the market" is when the trend is up on the day and you sell on the hour

So you propose to go against the trend on the small frames in favour of the trend on the higher frames?

If anyone asks me:

- Peter, what the hell have you been doing here all this time?

I won't know what to say...

In general, everyone knows how to determine the direction, so they lose money purely out of altruism, I guess )))

hence the second question, if everyone knows the direction, then they put stops for reliable loss taking, to be sure and guarantee losses so to speak)))

You're right. Determining direction is a bit of a tricky business. But getting in tune with what's going on is possible. It's not a cure-all, but it avoids the madness of going against the trend.
