Goblin "BiPolar" Edition - page 22

Are these transactions normal?

Hi all,

Great effort and time you guys have put into this ea. Thanks a million.

I've just started testing this ea since yesterday and was wondering if the transactions, excerpts from my demo account were normal? I know it's a very short period of time to give any comments but they're all heading south. 2 closed in the minus territory and didn't trigger an opposite position to counter this negativity.

JanusTrading:
Here is Janus again stepping on the brakes and trying to take some air out of the baloon.

Here are the facts:

All 10point3 hybrids do work with almost any setting during ranging markets or cycles which do not exceed a certain pip move almost perfect.

Depending on the traders equity vs starting lotsize one can get anywhere from 10-30% profit in a week!

But.............!

The day will come, and i assure you fellow traders, it will come again, when the market or specially one currency leaves the range and either breaks out or down with 1 large candle on the 1h charts in exactly the opposite trade direction of the EA, with 150-250 pips, without any reversal(not even 15 pips or whatever the TP might be)

There were several efforts made in the past to overcome that problem, which in 99% of the cases blew the account in less than 1 day(most accounts blow up on that candle=1hour)

All of them, but one , has failed bigtime.

The only solution still is and was to way way underleverage the account, select the right pairs and combination thereof and apply solid chartknowledge(among other things) to the tradedirection of the EA at certain times.(even sometimes switch it off)

I take the current testing during the peak holiday season and very slow markets with a big grain of salt to make a case, that Goblin Bipolar, literally with scalping type settings(pipstep=5) could generate consistent returns in that posted order of magnitude.

I and i hope others as well, want to see this buy/sell routine work during this 1 hughe candle, without blowing up the account.

Personally i am using totally different settings, which make this type of EA behave completly different, which i will for sure post AFTER the boilertest.

Folks, i am running the boilertest on a live trading account NOT on a Demo.Since i run 10point3 hybrids since may, i risk some of my profits for that.

(Assure you, made profits and i did not blow a single account, but only because of luck and leverage)

So no need to worry about me loosing my shirt anytime soon.My test has to go a minimum of 3 month and involves certain changes every now and than.

Whoever expects a "holy grail" result with hughe returns on small equity will be dissapointed. Remember, i am the ultra conservative trader.

Until the next big move in the FX markets, i will be very interested in analysing all of your testing, so keep on posting and testing, like i do.

As this post is a repeat of my opinion, i will you all no longer bother with underleverage and instead concentrate on my settings, which you will hopefully find interesting, but this will take some time.

Have a safe and prosperous 2007 and may the market direction be with you.....

im going to have to agree with janus, PornStar EA was a good EA, however like most of the 10 points 3 derivatives it lacked size, literally...ive said it many times, these EA's need hedging and also a wide enough "grid" coupled with low leverage.....you must have that balance to achieve success...the current Goblin im working on has a range of not 200 or 300, but 500 pips!!!! i made an appointment with my old math professor and we came up with an excellent "Martingale-fibonacci" system that can sustain a 500 pip movement with no retracement, low lot sizes, and still be in the game with low leverage...keep on phreaking

post it!! But I have already started my forward test on current version that was posted to me with equity target as %.

Any way. I have found in back testing that the target of 30 and pip step of 8 would do well for nice peroids of time, would eventually kill an account with out manual intervention.

Through lots of testing over the long weekend I have foung that pip step of around 20 and target of around 15 keeps you from getting trades left behind. There are a couple ocations where even those settings got left behind. But not befor it turned 5k into 30k.

A larger account or using micro lots and opening max trades 5 every 20 pips will take a 100 pip streight line move befor all 5 trades will be opened. Target is only 15 so the liklyhood of a 15 pip retrace on a 100 pip move is really good. But that last 5th order will close you for a small loss. It just allows you to get out of the other 4 losing orders with a very minimal loss. And at about the 3rd order opening it will already be starting to place orders in the other direction. So by the time a 4th and 5th order is opened you've made some money on that move against you.

Bipoler trades very well in trending markets as well as ranged markets.

Just gotta keep an eye on trend changes and be ready intervene.

so whats the reason for you to use pipstep 8 maxtrade 4 target 18?

Error from latest version

2006.12.29 14:25:27 Goblin BiPolar Edition EURUSD,M15: invalid ticket for OrderClose function

So you mean everything else is default?

No money management and account protection, etc ???

Below are my settings that I have been playing with.

My strategy is to turn on expert on Monday, look at weekly trend direction then setup properties for either "long only" or "short only".

When expecting important US News will change expert properties setup to do both "Long & Short" trades.

Will let you know the results of this forward testing strategy when they become available.

Yes.

Hi Bluto,

Finally, I can get back here again. (It is very difficult for me to enter this forum due to some major cables damaged by earthquake! )

I have been turning on the EA between 27~28, only found that one order have been triggered. Very strange if compare with others forward test.

I doubt whether it is due to the new build of MT4 2.01 so I get back to the original Goblin. It triggered order very quickly.

I am using the following settings:

SystemWideParms=** Goblin Systemwide Parameters **

LotSize=0.10000000

UseMoneyMgmt=0

EquityProtectionLevel=0.00000000

MaxLossPerOrder=0.00000000

TargetEquityToCloseAndReset=0.00000000

RiskPercent=1

UseFiboLotSizeProgression=0

UseConservativeRSX_Signals=1

RSX_Period=17

RSX_Timeframe=60

UseSMATrendFilter=1

TrendFilterSMATimeFrame=60

TrendFilterFastSMAPeriod=65

TrendFilterMediumSMAPeriod=20

TrendFilterSlowSMAPeriod=7

LongTradeParms=** Goblin Buy Side Parameters **

LongTakeProfit=18.00000000

LongInitialStop=0.00000000

LongTrailingStop=0.00000000

LongMaxTrades=4

LongPips=21

LongSecureProfit=1000

LongAccountProtection=0

LongOrderstoProtect=0

ShortTradeParms=** Goblin Sell Side Parameters **

ShortTakeProfit=18.00000000

ShortInitialStop=0.00000000

ShortTrailingStop=0.00000000

ShortMaxTrades=4

ShortPips=21

ShortSecureProfit=1000

ShortAccountProtection=0

ShortOrderstoProtect=0

Do you think I have done something wrong when I turn this EA on?

Is there anyone also encountering this problem?

Regards

Wilson

Using the SMA filter ( UseSMATrendFilter=1 ) will yield fewer opportunities to open orders, but more of them will tend to close in profit.

Try running BiPolar with the TrendFilter turned off and you'll see what I mean.
