No Significant Economic Data Releases Today, Focus on U.S. Semiconductor Earnings

Today, there are few major economic data releases, so market attention is limited. The key releases scheduled include France's Consumer Confidence Index (August), Eurozone Money Supply M3 (July), Turkey's Trade Balance (July), and the U.S. MBA Mortgage Applications Index (August 17 - August 23). Additionally, Israel's policy rate, Russia's unemployment rate (July), and industrial production (July) will be released, but these are not expected to lead to significant market movements.

On the other hand, in the U.S. stock market, attention is focused on Nvidia's quarterly earnings report, which will be released early tomorrow morning. This report could impact the entire semiconductor sector and market risk sentiment, and many investors are closely watching it.

In terms of speeches, Bank of England's MPC member Catherine Mann and Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic are scheduled to speak. On August 1, the UK's MPC decided on a 25 bp rate cut by a 5-4 vote, with Mann being one of the four members who supported keeping rates unchanged. The pound has been performing well recently, but hawkish comments could impact the market, potentially strengthening the pound again.

Additionally, the U.S. weekly petroleum inventory report and a $70 billion 5-year bond auction are scheduled.

In the Tokyo market, the dollar has rebounded, but there has been no significant change in the overall trend of dollar weakness. This week appears to be a preparation period for the September market, with somewhat restrained market movements.

The AUD saw temporary buying after the monthly CPI exceeded expectations, but it has since been under selling pressure. However, given that the CPI remains high, the possibility of a rate cut is low, and the pair is still viewed with a buying bias. Attention remains focused on currency pairs involving the Japanese yen.
