The euro hit new long-term lows and Asian currencies fell in Asian trading on Monday as a downgrade of European countries by Standard & Poor's on Friday continued to weigh on the single European currency and emerging market currencies.

The fact that the downgrade was expected by many market participants did not protect the euro from losses.

"The August 2011 decision by S&P to downgrade the US rating was also considered 'considered' and could hardly be considered news, given the dire state of US public finances. Nevertheless, it did lead to a significant drop in asset market valuations," Westpac said in a note to clients. - We believe there is limited upside potential for the /euro/.

The euro fell to a new 11-year low against the yen, reaching 97.03 and approaching the lows reached in reaction to the S&P statement released on Friday.

If the results of Monday's French bond placement auction turn out to be poor, investors are likely to continue selling the euro/US dollar pair, warned Motonari Ogawa, senior trader at Barclays Capital, adding: 'I believe the auction results will have a negative impact on the euro.

With US markets closed for the holiday, a small number of orders could be enough to cause sharp market swings, he believes.

The single European currency is also starting to focus on negotiations between Greece and investors, which will resume this week, notes Win Tin, a currency strategist and analyst at Brown Brother Harriman.

"While we hope that a disorderly default /in Greece/ can be avoided, we believe that even a change in market view on risks could be enough to contribute to the euro's decline this week."

On Sunday, German foreign minister Guido Westerwelle said he was sure Greece would be able to reach an agreement with private sector creditors on a massive €100bn debt forgiveness.

His comments came two days after talks between Greece and the Institute of International Finance stalled over the details of the deal.

The debt relief is an integral part of the new €130bn bailout package that Europe and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have promised Greece to cover its financial needs by the end of 2015.

Greece is expecting a delegation from the European Union, IMF and European Central Bank /ECB/ on Tuesday to discuss details of the agreement on the new loan. Negotiations with private creditors are expected to resume on Wednesday.

Not a good prospect for the Euro, of course! But the Yanks are out for the day.

0847 GMT Want to be long of euros, then buy EUR/CHF, says UniCredit. With this cross getting close to the SNB's 1.20 floor, which will prompt intervention, it's one of the few euro cross rates for which long positions can be profitable. EUR/CHF is now at 1.2086. (gary.stride

It seems that the EUR/CHF cross rate is what the dudes are saying.

Yeah. If that's what they say, we should definitely salt it ))))

We have enough of our own uncles and aunts here, it's better to listen to them than strangers!!!

hello all, 2680? It's the next 27. Why do you need these dredges? Why are they not producing gold? - there is no gold there, maybe the plant is located in the Volga region (if there was gold in the plant, they would wash it like drinking water) (and it is not a fact that the plant does not belong to a gold mining company!).

And if they do not, where can they wait?

Salavatka:
And if there is no trial where to wait?
