Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on the US military to refrain from carrying out any operations in Libya, Iranian media reported on Wednesday.

"Keep in mind, if your military once again invades the territory of a North African or Middle Eastern country, the regional states will rise up against you and dig graves for your soldiers," he said in Iran's Lurestan province.

Ahmadinejad commented on some media reports saying that Western countries might carry out a military operation in Libya to overthrow Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.


The US and Britain are already planning operations to seize Libya's chemical weapons depots. The scenario is very similar to Iraq's, when the reason for the invasion was also to search for weapons of mass destruction. European media reports that special forces from the US, France and Britain have landed in eastern Libya.
