where exactly is the balance of the ring there?it's a 21 pair (ring) portfolio chart, the lots are balanced, bought and sold, then you said.
the idea is good but it just won't work on real terminals and quotes, for a day now i have been spinning my vision of the same ring only through gold in the form of 8 currencies i.e. USDGOLD,NZDGOLD .... and I am becoming more and more convinced that the quotes are smeared/shifted/ .... over time, as the topstarter's ring should be in zero balance-size-spread - since logically, if which currency has become stronger/more expensive, it means the other currency has become weaker.
I agree with statements that each currency is weighted differently in relation to the other (CAD is weaker than USD), etc. But we have cross rates of all quotations to make them converge, I agree with those who say that the entire ring moves in terms of overall increase/decrease in the value of the basket, but I still stick to my opinion about irrelevance of quotes

1. Bad news. Opening such a ring gives a -21 spread, nothing more. Assuming, of course, that all lots are balanced, i.e. equal in value (relative to the basket of currencies involved). You wrote yourself - breaking the ring is equivalent to opening a position in the corresponding pair... Explaining from the other end: The whole thing is nothing more than an exotic lock. With all the resulting morasses of using it. // Ah yes, you can sell it to locophiles who want to work on MT5. ;))
2. Good news. You don't have to open it. It is easy to make an indicator that from a fixed point in time (virtual ring opening) will show the equity charts of all pairs. Well, MT4 has only 8 (limitation on the number of indicator buffers), but MT5 allows 200.
3. Bad news. I will not write this indicator, for sure. (At least for free. The reason - point one.)
4. good news. You can write your own indicator. Practical programming + practice of equity calculation + the most useful: solving the volume balancing problem. + Hope: maybe observations of the indicator will give you a real-grained idea ...!
