Does this apply to normal MTF indicators - that most use everyday

hopefully those at MQs headquarters will be doing a bit of overtime this weekend, and with luck they could get at least 5 new builds out by Monday and MTF will be fixed, maybe its just an oversight and small error

without MTF .. MT4 is no good, and there will be a riot around the forums

Multi time frame indicators that were used a couple of years ago (where it was a mtf calling it slave whatever and where you always had to have 2 files and you could not rename it at all) will work. All the new multi time frame indicators (where you do not have 2 files for one multi time frame indicator) will not work any more (if the things are left this way).

Multi time frame indicators are just one casualty : you will not be able to have some specific calculations where the depth of calculations is dynamic (unknown bounds). You will not be able to have one indicator doing multiple types of calculations using buffers for inter-communications. .... This is the "brightest" restriction I have seen so far. Not even metatrader 5 has something like this.

Soon we shall be forced to abandon using indicators function like and then we will go straight back to the dark ages of somebodies imagination how a 'modern" coding language should work. They are talking about C/C++ like coding language. Authors of C/C++ would die of laughter when they see what is done with the new metatrader 4

surely this must be an error and not on purpose, because so far most still have nt seen anything that even warrants an upgrade let alone a downgrade of MTF to fix something else

tens of thousands, if not millions of traders around the world rely on MTF

and without it and offline charts, to alot of traders MT4 does n't really have that much over other platforms, especially because of the broker plugins

if they can turn it off in one build they should be able to turn it back on again

i don't know, maybe we should all take the next month off and see whats left working at the end of February

This single file multi time frame was made (since I made it, seems that I can explain it) to avod 3 things :

1. A lot af files in the indicators folder. Old format always required at least 2 files

2. renaming problem - it was enough that you accidentally renamed the "slave" file and your muti time frame file stopped working

3. flooding the indicators folder has known consequences : at some point you do not see new indicators any more, and old multi time frame mode forced us to have all multiplied by 2

and the addition :

The new format does not assume how many bars of the target time frame should be updated but uses the exact number. If we were to use that in separate files it would take 3 files to do it. And it seems that we are going to have to do that now with these new "improvements"

The whole thing with this new "stuff" is simply a nonsense and is going to cause a significant back step in good coding practice. Even now we had been lagging miles behind serious trading platforms (like tradestation for example), now we are going to be lagging centuries too

these improvements are starting to make no sense..

traders really dont want worry about whether their indicators will work from day to day (we all have enough to worry about in life)

MQ's will have to start to sort a few things out in favour of the traders who keep MT4 in demand

or are they trying to stuff us over?

 

I saw this on another forum and thought it was right on the money

Maybe we can ask MetaQuotes to change the platform name From MetaTrader 4 to BetaTrader 4

 

hopefully i wake up soon and realise it was just a bad nightmare

or is this the push to get us all on MT5

spend a few late nights on the vodka, knock out some bad builds

stuff up MT4 and job done

 

If they go forward with this buggy metatrader and they name it a release version that will be very irresponsible

 

if it works with the same editor as MT5

they may as well call it MT5 lite

 

Guys, if it is true, this is the last day we are using a stable metatrader 4. Good luck on Monday
