In regard to tick data feeds.

Demo & Live data feeds from most, if not all, Brokers come from different servers. The Demo feeds are filtered and response times will be slower than Live feeds. IBFX plans to have Live tick data feed for Demo accounts soon. How soon, last week they said a few months. At present, I agree that FXDD has been more consistent, and it is a good idea to Demo and then go Live with same Broker.

As you know, wiith the MT4 build 200, all Strategy Tester data comes from MetaQuote. That is the reason, that now all downloaded data from the History Center on build 200 with all MT4 brokers have data gaps. Hopefully, MetaQuote will correct this problem soon. But right now, the best source of data for backtesting or optimizing in MT4 is from alpari. Unless you purchase live tick data , collect your own live tick data or download live tick data from a few websites and convert it to MT4 format, I'm not aware of any other MT4 formated databank on the internet, other than alpari. The PeriodGen script is just a faster way than using the Period_Converter script to convert alpari M1 data into different timeframes. I got it to work and it is very fast.

You can try http://ratedata.gaincapital.com/ it's a free source for live tick data and it goes back to 2000. Majors only

Then why don't you guys go live with Alpari if you are using Alpari data for testing. Any bad experience?

I heard they have a bad reputation as a broker, especially regarding 1 tick spikes hitting SL but I don't have any solid evidence for this. I may be guilty of "because nobody else considered them, I won't either!". Maybe the UK Alpari needs a second look? What really annoys me is that Alpari = metaquotes and Alpari History != Metaquotes History.

Cubesteak is running a tick and M1 tracking project. http://www.cubesteak.net/mt4-multi-broker-tick-and-m1-data-project

I'm thinking we should join. I do have several months of historical M1 data from FXDD as well. I should test it, confirm it and release it.

Hi Darak,

I read some of negative testimonial as well for fxdd...

I guess nothing is perfect.

ForexBastards.com run by Felix has enough negative publicity and people calling him a scammer that I don't consider anything on that site "credible evidence." The huge pile of people that hate him aren't necessary credible either, but I'm not willing to take the site run by Felix at face value. They recently joined our forum to post some commercial offering, but they haven't responded to my questions: https://www.mql5.com/en/forum

Here is a small sample list of the people who don't like Felix:

There are tons more, but I think that is enough for you to see why I don't believe Felix by default.

According your post just above (I'm not quote it :too long) the only problem with Phoenix is to have the trend whatever -up or down- whatever daily, 3 days, weekly ????) and the cur to get the right settings accordingly...

And that is the point.

Or :

a/ we have an "intellectual human being analysys" -Mizuho is one- always subject to errors that says you for XX/YY cur =down(or up) and then you manually switch in the parameters of Phoenix to trade short or long ... ok.

Or

b/ You have an indicator that directly say to Phoenix where to go... But which indicator ??? and it absolutly not easy coz there is a part of "feelings" where the market will go... And to quantifies "feelings.... huuuummmm !

As I know, Darak is working hard on that. Very hard. To find the right "filter" and then modified the settings according the trend.

For my part I am sure he will succeed... (As I know he is near to...)

If so we will have a wonderfull ea...

My 2c

Reason why your experience with Goblin and Turbo_jvel/Turbo_jrsx, trend indicators could/should be VERY interesting....

Idea : don't you think that these two indicators in an uppper TF are, perhaps, a key.... ?

This is Alpari information. I am very interested with their service. I start to put more trust with their explanation.

That could just mean that they manipulate the data at the clearing house, same as IBFX.

I have been a little suspicious since I saw this data. I would need to log several weeks of alpari data from a real money account, and not finding spikes like this one:

http://championship.mql4.com/2006/users/santa#comments

If I didn't see any spikes, then I might trust them a little. If there is a spike that took out a SL, the real question isn't what the "policy" is, but what the "action" is. I've heard reports of NF covering the losses of their clients during a hack outage. That is commendable. IBFX customer service has told many people "too bad" when it comes to spikes because it isn't their data - it is data from Forex Liquidity: http://www.nfa.futures.org/basicnet/Details.aspx?entityid=0196740

One of the main reasons I started this whole EA hosting service was so I could put a reliable 3 pip filter on spikes. I'm interested in FXDD live data, but I still haven't heard a credible source say anything bad about them.

Thanks for your kind works Bertbin, and I'm glad you liked the ideas we discussed. Right now my main goal is reliable trading without bugs in 5.6.x. Any changes to the actual trading logic will wait for Phoenix 6.
