Rewriting Tradingview Strategy (pinescript) as EA for MetaTrader 5

I have a simple Bollinger Band strategy written in Pinescript for Tradingview (attached here, well commented) and I would like it re-written as an MQL5 EA. The strategy is no specific to the GBPUSD pair given here but should be applicable for many different types of assets. The EA will be used for backtesting over much longer periods of time than is possible via Tradingview, and to utilise the MT5 optimisation functions.

I would like this exercise to start helping me learn MQL5 so I would like all the code to be commented with full explanations to help me pick up how it all works.
