What would it take to get everyone to finally switch to MT5? (collecting opinions) - page 17

Igor Makanu:

I do not believe you googled the question about competition! On the quickq forums you can find Renat's posts 4-5 years ago where he explained the advantages of MT5 over quickq. Users are so addicted there, they are ready to scalping on a braking drive of quickq, but do not even bother to open MT5 and see the obvious, and you have not bothered to study the question of trading platforms and made a big speech at the very end )))))

Don't talk about Quick. They are different products. Comparing MT with Quick is like comparing a cat with a dog - who is better? It depends on what it's better for.)

Victor Ziborov:

- What would it take to get everyone to finally switch to MT5 ?

- You need to have hedging mode by default.

This is out of the question. there is no hedging anywhere but forex.
Either leave it as it is or make 2 versions of the terminal. MT5h and MT5n )

But there are OCO and if done bundles. If they were introduced 8 years ago, when it was also asked on this forum, no hedging would have been needed, and MT4 would not even be mentioned anymore. Almost 10 years have passed, the developers have screwed them in as hedging ... A standing ovation.

Why do not they go? Because the seller in the market is at the forefront, and the needs of ordinary traders do not count at all (first orders and a lot of wasted time as a result).

New version of MetaTrader 5 build 1930: Floating Chart Window and .Net Library in MQL5

Noticed that MqlTradeRequest has a decent reserved size (112 bytes, which is great). Immediately thought of https://www.mql5.com/ru/forum/90051, no one from the company has responded. Why not screw in

ENUM_STOPPRICE_TYPE
ENUM_STOPPRICE_DEFAULT = 0
ENUM_STOPPRICE_BID
ENUM_STOPPRICE_ASK
ENUM_STOPPRICE_LAST

struct MqlTradeRequest {
    ...
    ENUM_STOPPRICE_TYPE stopprice_type;  // Тип цены для активации стоп ордеров.
};

It won't break backwards compatibility, and for you it's a few lines of code in the server side (well who cares what price to take to check activation). sl is also concerned.

SZS: for those who will rush to call me an idiot (and there will surely be some) - activation != execution.

Purely a trader's need, not for any marketplace out there. It's just a necessity in the current realities. Three years of unsuccessfully talking and the answer is silence, probably 10 years from now the realisation will start to come, but however it happens "Each architecture/skeleton has its own development limits".

It is a strange thing, some people say that MT5 is not suitable because it is too complicated for masses, and the public does not need all sorts of nifty features. Simplify it, they say, and everyone will like it, while others say - if they added some super tricky thing(structure-template-sequence of virtual objects interfaces in overloaded polymorphic functions), everyone would be on five and four would be forgotten))).

People have different needs. Some people only need a web terminal with a couple of "open" and "close" buttons.

How much methacquotas do the author get paid for topics like this?

Mickey Moose:
How much do the metaquotes pay the author for such topics?

They are the ones who are annoyed by such topics, it's their business and their solutions.

I won't take part in such topics anymore, everyone has their own way!

The last thread was on for about two hours, remember what it was about, and this one was on for more than a day, so everyone is fine with it.

Реter Konow:
The main question in the thread. A clear, logical, thoughtful statement is welcome.

I would have switched to mt5 already today if it were possible to run EAs, robots from mt4 on mt5!
