Analysts at Brown Brothers Harriman say that predicting exchange rate movements based on changes in market risk appetite is more inefficient. In January the correlation between USD/JPY and S&P 500 reached 0.42, whereas now this index has fallen to -0.11. Previously, the dollar was declining when stock markets were rising, but now it is rising along with US stocks and treasuries.

Market sentiment analysis is therefore no longer effective. Experts say that now we should "switch to more fundamental forecasts".

BBH advises traders to pay attention to:

  • Bond markets (the slope of the Treasury yield curve matters). According to specialists, the sharp rise in yields of 10-year Treasuries indicates a strengthening of the US economy and possibly an improvement in the Fed's policy outlook. Accordingly, additional QE is unlikely and the dollar is likely to rise.
  • The yield differential between 2-year bonds in the USA and Germany as well as between the USA and Japan as it could indicate how EUR/USD and USD/JPY will behave.

I have already mentioned that it can be taken off the list. gold is a bit of a mystery at the moment. what remains is silver (it's at very good levels) gas and paladium.

They may not be. It's all futures I cited. oil does not rule. that's the thing. i have already mentioned that it can be crossed out of the list. gold is a mystery. silver remains (it is at very good levels) gas and paladium.

i see only the euras the quid and the pound the quid, and all kinds of harmful news that have no effect without margarita's comments. i do not see her in the news... to hell with everything i trade as i see it ))))))

emotraid:

You complicate things, I only watch the euro, the quid and the pound and all sorts of harmful news, but without Margarita's explanations there is no use from this news, and she is usually not in the news, so... to hell with everything I trade as it turns out )))))).

I work with such instruments, I find out the global market cluster, what investors want and where they are more inclined to invest. But once again, you have to see the market as a whole. The main thing is to see the market in general. Without it you just sometimes get stupor when you don't know what's going on in the market. Well, good luck to everyone.

Margaret, good evening, can you tell me what the state pension funds are basically tied to? I mean, how are they trying to fund themselves?

there isn't one. you are offended. do a search. the average american has 3 pensions - public, private collective and private individual. pension funds tend to accumulate a portfolio of stocks that allows them to have a higher rate of return than the average banker.

Good evening. Through investments.
