Randomness of price values - page 15

NorthAlec:

I was asking a specific question: if the price is unpredictable, then what are bank traders guided by when they trade on FOREX?

The price is predictable. However, it is very difficult to extract the necessary information from it

gpwr:

As I live in the USA, I can assure you that tens of thousands of dollars a year is a miserable existence. You have to be guided by the lifestyle of the average American.

I'll keep that in mind.

So far it passes as a hypothesis. If I have an argument, I will agree. What are your suggestions?

// I was talking about the chaotic nature of the price series - I meant that it is difficult to calculate further values based on a single price series segment.

//Hedge funds (see above) and the like work according to a slightly different scheme. They use additional information about the volume of trades, bids, and so on. (Besides, they don't play with High-Frequency trading for nothing.

So, lea, do you think you can get useful information for forecasting from the price series itself?

Come and visit us in Gadyukino... You can get by on tens of thousands of roubles a year here :) and in quid... You can get drunk on moonshine and swim in a Jacuzzi full of champagne ... Let's have some fun :)

  1. Petrol, $50 a month

Is that a typo?

Tantrik:
Is that a typo?

This was referring to one filling per month at $3 per gallon and a tank of 16 gallons. The calculation was for a family living on investment income. So there's no commuting to work. The car is only used for shopping.

gpwr:
but a purely mundane question... What is the annual interest rate on a loan there?

In the U.S., you can live on even zero wages. Socialism here is cooler than in the Soviet Union. The key to living like this is to have children and not get married. Then your girlfriend with the kids gets $2500 a month from the government as a single mother and you live together as a normal family (not telling the government that, of course) and get $1500 a month in unemployment benefits yourself. You have a combined "income" of $48k a year. That's not bad, is it? Why work at all for "tens of thousands a year" when you'll get more from the state without working?

You are probably not allowed to be unemployed forever, there are deadlines.

And he's also getting his girlfriend's alimony deducted from his allowance.

sever30: and child support is withheld from his allowance in favour of his girlfriend
So the alimony goes to the house anyway...
