Foreign exchange market participants
The main participants in the foreign exchange market are:
- Commercial banks. They carry out the main volume of foreign exchange operations.
- Firms that carry out foreign trade operations.
- International investment companies, pension and hedge funds, insurance companies.
- Currency exchanges. In some countries there are national currency exchanges with functions of
- Currency brokers. Their function is to bring together the buyer and the seller of foreign exchange
- Individuals. Individuals carry out a wide range of transactions, each of which is small, but together may constitute a significant additional demand or supply: payment for foreign tourism; remittances of wages, pensions, royalties; buying/selling cash currency as a savings; speculative currency transactions.
