There are short term investments and there are long term investments.
My projects belong to the second case. The payback period is five years or more.
But there are other "weirdos" out there too. When I worked at Pro-Invest, we were asked to make projects last for a maximum of 50 years or more. The standard ceiling of 50 years turned out to be too short for them :)
So there you go - everyone's planning horizons are different, and time is relative.

Said means that I:
1) invested 100 rubles to build ships;
2) within 5 years (let's say no more), I paid back 100 roubles;
3) I kept my share in the shipbuilding business.
