What impression can there be? It's not convenient to use your micro-chat.
But you still need to cram micro chats into the masses.
Make it two customizable options:
-- don't use microchat.
-- don't auto-open the micro-chat.
And then your micro-chat will be very attractive because you'll be able to not see or use it.
out of 509 contacts (this is what the chat window shows, the profile shows ~492) only 64 are visible in the chat window

I recommend not giving advice to kill yourself against the wall. It's very bad for your karma and closes off the possibility of accepting your words in the future.
Where exactly is the inconvenience? Describe it technically, please.
The inconveniences are simple -- this has already been mentioned in the discussion posts above:
-- the micro-chat is small, even if it is enlarged -- for a comfortable dialogue, you have to go to the main chat to full screen
-- the micro-chat is popping up automatically with a new message -- this imposes the need to work with the message -- and if the page is reloaded or the message is not read for some reason -- then the information about its arrival (as a number) is lost
That's why the chat room has two organizational disadvantages:
-- we should make it switchable (like originally, by number to main chat)
-- we should make it switchable to auto-illuminate.
And everything else -- message input, quick access, and all that -- it works fine, tested many times.
The inconveniences are simple -- this has already been mentioned in the discussion posts above:

Window enlargement status is now retained and allows opening in the same state.
In the next version will be a button to go to the full page of discussion, as well as several new features.

The window pops up only at the active browser tab, and a sound announcement is played. Even when a tab is not active, the sound makes it easy to understand the arrival of messages.
We'll think about the update numbers, but it's not a big deal.
