If Scotland votes yes, then they might be in the market for a very long time (as some gold bulls that still keep their long positions from 2 years ago opened)

Do you really think that Scotland will be allowed to exit UK? That would mean : UK, breaking apart, EU breaking apart (and not just that - Catalonia is just waiting to see what hapens, and after that see some parts of Germany), US would eventually break apart. They are not going to allow it. All together. Not just the UK. All. Otherwise they would have to addmit that they are doing wrong in Ukraine too. An all the other places

That poll was just a bargaining chip : what are politicians doing the best (except for lying)? And what word comes to mind the first when you mention a politician? Corruption. Someone have just asked for more and this was a pure demonstration of power this time : that all you need is a couple of TV stations these days and you can do whatever you want with a country (or a part of a country)

I don't agree ...

There is a danger that things you describe happen, but I don't think that the degree of awareness of what exactly is happening and can happen is at that level yet. If it was (if people would think that they will be better off on their own) they would have do it. But most of the people is financially exhausted and it is no wonder that only the richest parts of countries want to separate from the "mainland"
