What is a super period in the quotes of a financial instrument? A super period can be defined as a period of time in an annual cycle in which quotes show a stable rise or fall over a number of years. In other words, these are seasonal factors, but in a broader sense.
For example, in 2006-2015, the cost of gold bars in the period from December 23 to January 3 rose annually, on average, by 2.9%. The dynamics of the growth of quotations for the precious metal in this time period was traced even in 2013-2014, when gold prices collapsed, reaching the bottom for the first time in ten years. This is a good example of a superperiod.
Such patterns, of course, can be successfully used in trading strategies. At the same time, analyzing trading quotes “manually” is overwhelming work. Several tens of thousands of stocks and futures are traded in the world - to analyze their quotes to a depth of 10-15 years, to compare the dynamics of trading over the years in each instrument, to identify super periods - absolutely overwhelming work.
