Hello dear traders. I am proud to introduce to you Momentum Trailer. Please make sure to read this material thoroughly and carefully before purchasing.

A couple of warnings

  • Apply this EA to Gold Only. Backtest results show profitability on no other symbols.
  • Any money you lose directly or indirectly applying this product is entirely your responsibility.
  • If you are not moderately familiar with EAs and MetaTrader avoid this product.
  • The strategy used by Momentum Trailer is not guaranteed to be profitable.
  • I do not suggest any broker/account here. It is your responsibility to use Strategy Tester with accurate setup and real ticks to confirm that this will work on your account.
  • There are no Live Signals or Groups related to this EA.

Strategy description

The strategy uses RSI indicator with a unique approach to detect momentum in Gold market to confirm entries. Once the trade is in profit it trails SL to protect profit. But if it goes into loss it waits for the reverse signal to exit. Therefor you should expect small profits and larger drawdowns.

You expect a maximum of one open trade at a time. Having more than one position means some kind of error in execution.

Any interference from your side will put the EA into a different path that hasn't been tested.

Inputs

To avoid dangerous setup from users' side I hard coded most parameters. However, you have very few standard input options to apply.
    • Magic Number: This is a uniquely chosen number that ensures trades from different sources won’t interfere.
    • Trade Direction: Choose to go long or go short only or trade both directions.
    • Lot Size per 500USD: This will choose flexible lot size per trade based on account balance. 
    • Enable Desktop Alerts/Enable Push Notifications/Enable Email Alerts: This is a software and should be monitored for errors and crashes. Having these inputs enabled helps you find the source of the problem and get it fixed before an unwanted loss occurs. 

The hard coded parameters 

The strategy works with XAUUSD/Gold. Avoid any other symbol!
  • The strategy time frame is hard coded to H1.
  • Trailing SL value is optimized and hard coded. 
  • Lot size per trade is hard coded to 0.01 lots per 500USD balance. 

    This is not an HFT EA that takes too many trades in a fraction of a second. You will expect two or three trades per week.

    Simulation Results

    As a rule, make sure to apply Strategy Tester with real ticks coming from your broker with exact same input settings before going live. Besides the profitability issue there are cases where different specifications used by different accounts on different brokers can lead to disastrous execution of the EA.

    The backtest is conducted on real ticks from DukasCopy for a 19-year time span on a raw trading account (ICMarkets).
    Annual test results show profits over 15% for most years while only two years(2007 and 2017) show losses larger than 10%.
    The last screens shows consistent results if you went long only and avoided short trades.
