Drawbacks
- Bad periods
The expert may go through extended periods of negative trading performance. It is important not to expect profitable trades from the advisor on a daily basis.
This is a long-term strategy that requires evaluation over an extended timeframe;
(info: after each backtest, you can find monthly trading report in the journal section. The report includes profits displayed in both currency and percentage terms, which some users find more convenient for assessing the results compared to simply analyzing the equity curve); - Average Profit Factor
Strategies with a high profit factor are often "loss-free" systems, such as martingale strategies. These are the types of systems that can achieve 30 consecutive wins but lose everything in a single trade or even wipe out the entire deposit. Strategies like Emsebler, on the other hand, regularly lock in losses, which results in less visually appealing equity curves. This might make them less attractive to signal providers; -
The difficulty of diversifying within a single strategy
Despite the availability of numerous pre-made presets, if the EA enters a negative period, it is likely that most presets will underperform. Naturally, some will perform better than others, but the impact will still be noticeable;
Therefore, don’t forget about the bonus strategies designed for other currency pairs—they can help improve diversification
Advantages
- High Recovery Factor
Strategies based on the CA2.0 model can experience losses or small profits over an extended period, only to recover and turn profitable in a single trading session.
This is why their test equity curve often resembles a series of steps—for example, strategies #21 or #20;
On the other hand, some strategies have a lower take-profit (TP) compared to their stop-loss (SL), these strategies tend to have a higher profit factor but a lower recovery factor. I recommend using such strategies as supplementary ones, with reduced risk (for example, strategy #1); - No Need for Regular Optimization
The expert advisor does not rely on optimization periods. Almost all of its functions are dynamic, with adaptive coefficients used instead of fixed values, meaning the advisor never requires optimization. The only exceptions are the maximum stop-loss, daily range, and volatility control settings; these parameters are constant and do not change. Adaptation typically occurs within 6-9 days; - Good for Portfolio Diversification
It’s good for diversifying other experts or a personal investment portfolio, as it doesn’t overload the deposit and offers good lot/point ratios. This means that profits are generated through the number of points, not the volume of trades (in other words, the more you can gain per 0.01 lot, the better. A bad example would be micro scalping or martingale strategies); - High trading activity
Despite the presence of time frames within the strategy, trading occurs almost everyday when using strategy sets. High trading activity is a good statistical sample and a sign of the openness of the strategy.
(Sometimes, low trading activity can be misleading);
