Developing trading applications in MQL5 and MQL4

im currently using an EA that im renting from someone, i know very little about coding EA's but im wondering how easy it would be for someone to copy the current EA im using for my own. thats all i was told that i needed to be connected to this persons' special server in order for this to work, i want to know if this can be copied into a Personal EA for myself automated so i will not have to pay a monthly cost for it
