Yup, it's because of the strict regulatory framework in the US (CFA & CFTC). At last count I believe there are only about 14 brokers who will still accept (offshore) US clientsForum on trading, automated trading systems and testing trading strategies

A broker outside the USA willing to board a US citizen must be registered in this country, e.g. paying for a license and complying with norms.
