Some EA require a lot of time (20 hours)to be optimized on MT4 platform.

Optimization time depends on your EA and indicator code complexity, timeframe (lower timeframes require more time), period and optimization mode. 

Depending on these factors it can take  even more than 20 hours.

Without more information about yuor scenario is impossible to say if this is nomal time or something is wrong in your case
