Metatrader 4 install asks for proxy information

When setup is started, Metatrader 4, build 840 displays form for proxy settings.

Internet works, since setup is downloaded from internet.

Setup  also opens MQL5 community page on start.

This happens also with Windows firewall and antivirus turned off.

 

Windows 7 Home, with UAC, setup started using "Run as Administrator".

 

Any ideas? I think I saw something like this, but I can't find post in this forum.

If you not connect using proxy, just ignore it.

Often MetaTrader difficult to install, seems hang and no data downloaded... so usually I exit installer and re-install again,,, after trying it for 3 or 4 times, it should work.

Solved.

Problem was with some Norton internet security module.

Norton antivirus was uninstalled, but this service was still running.

Once stopped, everything went smoothly.

 

All other software accessed internet without problems, just MT4 setup could not. Go figure.

Solved.

Problem was with some Norton internet security module.

You don't. If you don't configure your browser to use a proxy, neither does the installer.

I'm also currently having the same problem. Installer runs and either network times out and I get a failure message, or network times out immediately and I get the proxy pop up.

Cancel and try later.

It is broken.

And they still propose the same old solution, the one that has stopped working.

We wait until they try it themselves to discover that it does not work anymore.

I just wish that everybody who is having these troubles writes to servicedesk because that is the only way to bring it to their attention.

Unfortunately, you can not easily add that to a live dvd the work involved to remaster the iso is just too time consuming and who knows maybe next update it stops working again.
