Strategy Tester under Linux

I have been running Mt4 successfully for quite a while on Debian Linux but am having trouble with Strategy Tester. I get a message saying "no history EURUSDxx" (where xx is the timeframe). History data is present for all timeframes and the EA works correctly on Windows XP.
If anyone knows how to fix this please share your knowledge?

I have determined that the problem described above is due to faulty dates in MetaTrader under Linux/Wine. If I run Strategy Tester with the "use dates" box unchecked it runs fine but uses all available history.
Is there any way around this?
