Is it worth the time?

You shouldn't only look at win rate for a good strategy/EA. If an EA wins 60% of the time but the average loss is 5 times the average win, you would still lose money in the long term. You should look into the expected payoff of the EA instead which considers the win rate and risk reward ratio.

As for if EA are profitable in the long term, no one can give you an answer and represent the thousands of EA available in the world. You would need to test them yourself. In my opinion, there are definitely some worthwhile EAs out there, but they are mostly buried beneath all the scams getting traction from the "easy money, get rick quick" mentality.
