We all know the importance of the Moving Average indicator for a lot of traders. There are other Moving average types that can be useful in trading, we will identify these types in this article and make a simple comparison between each one of them and the most popular simple Moving average type to see which one can show the best results.


In this article, we have considered the performance results of the following moving average types:

  • The Adaptive Moving Average (AMA)
  • The Double Exponential Moving Average (DEMA)
  • The Triple Exponential Moving Average (TEMA)
  • The Fractal Adaptive Moving Average (FrAMA)

We created trading systems for every type and compare their results with the simple moving average which is the most popular moving average type.
