Checking for DBL_MAX and 0 is not a crutch, but a normal "foolproofing". At terminal level, I'm sure no one will do such a check.

Checking via DBL_MAX will by no means ensure that you don't get a negative stop loss

The article in your picture does not say how much the maximum stop loss should be.
And what did you say if not a secret?
 
I realised from the new posts that I was misunderstood. The main check is that the stop level is greater than 0.0. DBL_MAX for symmetry, almost never happened, but if you need to check the level...
