it's hard to manually determine if you are in a flat or trend.
especially for an Expert Advisor.

You can use the MACD to identify a trend or a correction, but a flat is difficult.
You can use the Gator Oscillator - it is easy to determine there by levels (it's a standard indicator in MT5). It was designed as a trend and flat indicator.

In general, look for Expert Advisors in CodeBase on the basis of Gator or Alligator. If you have one, you will get two in one.

You will get two in one. How many copies have been broken, I can't count...

My robot has a good performance in the flat and i should be able to trade profitably in the flat, but i should rather lose profit in the flat. I have always been immersed in this kind of cunning.

the easiest option:

-- flat -- from the current price open orders both buy and sell

-- Trend -- from the current price in trend direction, open buy (up trend) or sell (down trend) orders accordingly

no need to search

I'm not looking for an Expert Advisor that will detect a trend or a flat.

The easiest thing to do is to put a limit order on the stop loss:

-- flat -- put a limit order at the stop-loss level

-- trend -- stop order at stop loss
