If I update an Indicator/EA does it force the user to use it or do they have a choice?

They can continue use the previous version if they don't update to the new one.

Once they update to the new one, they can't revert to an older version.

I meant do they have the option to not update? It sounds like they don't have to, correct?

Yes, they can keep the existing version, as long as they don't update.

But eventually they will be forced to update, when some incompatibility issue occurs I guess.
