Best time period for Optimization of EA

What is the best time period (like 3 months, 6 months or one year) for optimizing an EA according to the current market conditions? EA may be a scalping EA, a medium term trading EA or long term..

For example EURUSD:

I usually optimize from 1999-2013. And when i am done i forward test the EA from 2013-2019.

If i am optimizing correct. The forward test trading results from 2013-2019 shall reflect the results from the optimizing period 1999-2013

But 20 years is too long a period to optimize for "Current" market conditions?

I believe the more data the better.
It's all about probability, more events leads to more accurate data.

And the trick/key is too build a strategy that adapts to many different market conditions.

To achive that you need much history.

"Current market conditions" is one month to me in currency pairs while I use the last decade for stocks. Your sensible time frame may vary a lot depending on your strategy and underlying.
