They do this every year around Christmas and New Years. They make these wild price movements to draw out your stoploss, and then after the holidays, it all turns to normal range. It the bank's method of stealing bonus money back from the market that they give to employees.
And finally end of month/end of year movements driven by fonds managers to balance currencies in their portfolios. They sell and buy independent from forex market what causes extended movements. That's why I have implemented a parameter into my expert advisor to avoid any trade the last x trading days of month.
Its called pumping and dumping if i remember correctly.
