Is there any way of becoming a stockbrocker without a degree?

Brokerage firms do hire people without degrees, but typically the candidate has some college, and has proven himself or herself in some other way. He or she might have already had a successful career in sales for instance. The ideal candidate is a reasonably good looking, well spoken person who exudes confidence and inspires trust. They should also work easily with numbers and be sales oriented in their personality type. Whether they have experience in stock trading has little value. The hiring firm will train you, and help you prepare for the licensing exams. The license you receive is tied to the brokerage firm along with you. You cannot get Series 7 licensed without having been hired first. You can study and take the test on your own, but you cannot then become an independent broker. You can become a financial planner or various other titles without a Series 7 but not a stock broker. The firm I am familiar with hires two profiles: New MBA grads that interview well, and seasoned business people that are around the 40 mark in age. Get some college and some business experience and then go for stockbroker ( called investment advisers, investment executives, etc) Good luck
