Btw, there are solutions for doing tick backtesting outside of Metatrader, but with mq4 files. I wrote one of those with tick historic data.

Is there a need for MT4?? The current version works fine for me..The only complaints is the different timeframe...I love to look at 2hour timeframe chart...

You can use period convertor script to achieve that.

I've spoken with a couple of traders that are looking forward to MT5 due to multi-asset EA capability, but true, many programmers have spent a large time investment programming their EA's into MT4 based on position management.

Further delays all the time. I like the addition of more time frames but hope there will be native tick charts and range charts available and more like some custom time frame abilities like other charting software.

NFA regulations compliant only version is very unpopular so could it be the delays are because they know how few people will bother with metaquotes if they release this disaster on us, people will just boycott it.

 

Why you think they will go obselete? You know what will be selling like hotcakes... its the EA convertors.. which will convert the standard mq4 to mq5..

It is not that easy and converters work on simple EAS.

But it is easy, in fact its completely trivial. Software developers spend a great deal of their time upgrading legacy code, and they are remarkably good at it.

You will not find a software engineer on the planet who agree's with you. My people cant wait for MQL5, its new toy for them to play with, its a new set of problems and puzzles to entertain them.

The only people to be adversely effected will be those lacking simple coding skills, and to be brutally frank, there's absolutely no way that those people will have the intellectual capacity or required skills to develop an automated trading strategy so its completely irelevant. Of course the "vendors" who stole product from forums will need to wait for new "product" to be developed.

 

I also do not agree on your view oilfx... let the day come and we'll know...

 

Will be released with a huge showstopper, the anti-hedging feature.
