Exponential Moving Average

Well here is something I have been playing around with in Visual Trading through the CMS broker (which keeps going offline sadly).

I am wondering if anyone knows how to transfer this to MetaTrader. I can only give you the VT specs. Seems to predict big moves very well. Small losses from time to time, like every other expert/system of course. Maybe there will be more losing trades but even without a stop loss it will be losing very little.

Since this is very basic I am hoping that alot of people will be able to help me with this.

30Minute TIME FRAME on EUR/USD

Moving Average ->

Price = close

Period = 8

Type = Exponential

Color = Blue

Moving Average ->

Price = high

Period = 20

Type = Exponential

Color = Red

P.S. the colors dont really matter, I use that when the blue is over the red the price is going up and when the red is over the blue the price is going down.

Thank you in advance,

Gazuz

As far as I know, most MAs (SMA, EMA, and WMA) give very late signals. You see nice crossovers on chart, but the actual price has moved up or down 50 pips already. If you choose lower MA, let say 5 and 13, whipsaws will increase like stars at nite. Not only whipsaws kill our profit alone, but also spreads.

Good luck,

Scorpion

That is why I am so impressed with this combination, heres a screenshot:

Hm, looks very interesting. Whats to transfer? There are MA`s in Metatader and just just adjust them like you need, set Period Method and Apply to and you are done.

well it look like very profitable, but when the market go side way, what will you do ?? I have use this strategie long time ago, when the market go very well, it can almost catch up all of the trend, but when the market go sideway, you well know what will happen, if the market go "wide sideway"...... :eek: well that is why I want to know how to filter that noise sideway you agree ??

Hm, i agree that system is profitable when the market is trending.

gazuz,

Have you let it run on semi-autotrading with VT, to see what kind of results it returns? What are MAs and setting you are using on the screen shot?

Steven

One filter that will work best is fundamental filter. Of course now I am researching on fundamental indicators in order to create this kind of filter. The marriage between fundamental and technical indicators will be our next, major event.

1- No I do not believe there are any autotrading. As a matter of fact, I havent traded with it at all. I was just playing around with the settings of MA's.

2- I am using the exact settings I have said in my first post. 8 and 20

I do not know how to add filters in VT either, that is one of the reasons why I want to put it on MetaTrader. Anyone have any hint of an idea of which is which? (Time Period in VT -> Time Period in MT...)

Thanks in advance
