Ninja trader

Did not know where to put this : is anybody using Ninja trader and what are the experiences with it on live accounts?

Good coding environment (some nice things can be done in it)

Never had a live account with them so about that part I can not tell anything. Maybe someone else does have such an experience and can help you

Thinking of changing trading platform (and broker) - sick of some metatrader stuff that happens with almost all MT brokers I tried, that is why I ask

Thanks anyway

Good platform to get down to details and benefit from reuse of classes (C#/object oriented approach). The main problem with NinjaTrader is the separation of Managed and Unmanaged approach. If you select the Managed approach, management of orders become as simple as on Multicharts, MT4 or any other platform, but it is a lot of hazzle managing and cleaning up unfilled stop orders etc if you use the unmanaged approach.

The problem with managed approach is that the framework will disable the script if it detects an "Overfill"; typically if your script closes a position at the same time as a stop order is executed. You may think your script is running OK whilst it has been disabled for many hours. There is no way in this approach to catch an Exception of some type (because of the overfill) and correcting the situation code. It framework will close positions and stop the script without any option.

Again, getting around this by using the "Unmanaged" approach is quite difficult.

In short no perfect platform

But I still like less and less what metatrader is doing in last year or so, so still deciding to what platform to switch
