As I understand (if I am wrong so sorry) - ther pattern is continuing painting if it is forming pattern (or pattern under formation). It is same as open bar. If it is formed pattern so it will not be repainted (it is same as closed bar).
I think - forming patterns can be traded. But any patterns are used to understand the direction of the trend and for find such as "top and bottoms".
