So is there noone in here using real money, and making profits each month?
not attacking, just wondering if everyone in here is just demo accounts, because when joining up, it was advertising how people are making all this money from the systems in here. Just wondering if that statement is true, and if so which system would someone recomend.
Thanks
The point I was making is that you seem to be looking for profits every month. In my limited experience I have never seen a system that does that. Have a look in the monthly forward test results in this forum to see what I mean. The backtest results cannot be relied upon.
I personally take very regular profits using news staddling, but although that's a system it's most definitely not a set & forget robot.
My search is currently in the shortest timeframes, maybe even at tick level, which is why I wrote AvoidTheNews.mqh which is on this forum. The logic is that everything happens faster - both profits and drawdowns, so the likelihood of a negative month is less.
It comes down to what any financial adviser would ask you: how much risk are you willing to take? Plenty of the systems on this forum can make you decent money if you have the guts to withstand a 50% drawdown (I don't). But that's not "100 pips a month"
thanks for your explanations phampton,
Can you explain what news staddling is, and which news website or TV channel do you use to get your news before the market already does the move.
thanks
There are lots of news callers out there. You could try http://www.netpicksllc.com/ They have a 3 week trial and they taught me a lot. Also http://www.forexbastards.com is an excellent site about forex in general, and he has a free daily news email

STD Deviation Channel Endpoints
Hi,
Does anyone know how to identify the end point values of a Standard Deviation Channel to use as triggers for Order Entry/Exit??
In other words, when you have a Channel, it is made up of 3 lines, 1 middle, 1 upper and 1 lower. All three have start and end points (assuming Ray=false). I wish to use the end points of the Upper and Lower lines as Entry/Exit triggers.
If you can help with this I appreciate your input!
Thanks,
Monty
Are these absolute gains or Average weekly?
Just that if some EAs have been traded longer than others, and this is an absolute gain, it is not a fair comparison. However, obviously longer tests should carry more weight.
Perhaps the EAs should be listed in order of Weighted Average Pips per week where the PIPS for a given week are multiplied by the number of four week periods that have expired since that week, and then the total added weighted PIPS divided by the total number of weeks.
Just a thought - kick it into touch if you don't think it's valuable!
I suppose the reason I looked at it is that Firebird, for example, is not featuring in the recent weekly winners, but still features in the long term winners. It may be that over time the newer ones will show themselves better, but then again, Firebird may come back to knock them off. Alternatively newer EAs may arrive better than both.
The other thing is, I very much like Cardio's idea of a Master EA. The alternative would be one EA combining EAs for Trending, Ranging and News Markets. The Trending vs. Ranging would be relatively easy - one could use Firebird's Divergence feature. News would have to be managed by manually entering news times and turning off ranging and trending functions for a given period, and turning on a news EA instead.

Andy
