I am used to using NT7 trading futures and used T&S to enter trades. Is there such a function in MT4 to signal when block trade volume picks up?

There still is no volume for futures, and therefore no market depth to display.

With the new MT4 the data format appended volume, but the data seems always blank and it is not supported by the chart display either.

So... no block message, sorry.

Even if you increase it, metatrader will revert it to what is official broker data on a first occasion it gets online

Some kind of a volume (not ticks) you can get with some brokers using metatrader 5
