Sorry for all the posts... is there a way to "edit"
Nonetheless....i've been messing with the "fits"....i understand it's RBCI, but i think i need a bit of schooling to understand how to properly construct an RBCI....i've read the help stuff...but when i make them, i am getting 400+ coefficients ( or sometimes 200)...etc....
Thanks,
clClahn:
RBCI is what I used, 2 ways to apply it:
1-Isolate a fractal cycle..ie a cycle you find in m30 with 30 periods with a big peak ,and then you find a 60 periods cycle in m15..you create the 2 separate cycles, and,in theory ,you use one on m15 and the other on m30,IN PRACTICE I USE BOTH ON THE SAME CHART TOO...How to create one of these cycles?Ahhhh, this should be propietary, but I will share ..look for 2 valleys before and after the peak at 30..let`s say you have them at 19 and 47...these are your D1 and D2..now,what to use for P1 AND P2?You use 29 and 31..or 28 and 32..to isolate the 30 periods peak.
2-CHOOSE A RANGE OF 4 PEAKS ,THE 2 EXTREMES ARE D1 AND D2..THE 2 IN THE MIDDLE ARE P1 AND P2..you will have a fairly robust cycle, that surprisingly, will work on other pairs(related) and timeframes TOO..I am using such a cycle ,calculated for EURJPY H1..on GBPJPY M5,basically because I couldn`t create a specific cycle for GBPJPY M5,and I discovered that this solution works very well.
FXBS:
Please see updated chart regarding fitness in EURJPY,with luck, soon will be able to post a real trade.
H1 Cycle on m5
This is a pic of the EURJPY H1 cycle, done with the second method, that I started to use Live on GBPJPY M5 yesterday(after testing,of course )..obviously ,it is not perfect, but it helps a lot...
Yesterday I closed 3 trades with, among other tools, this cycle..and today I just closed the first trade of the day,I want to use this cycle as a tool in low range days to look for 20 to 50 pips per trade with few lots than usual,Trade length from 20 minutes to a few hours, just to "cover the expenses and pay my salary"..
The trick is to look at other confirming tools, like support area approaching when downcycle is "mature",etc,it is an art,not a science, but this tools help a lot..
Details of my trades,I have edited the last 4 digits of the order number, and times at my broker(GFT) are always GMT,Profits, both trade by trade and total, are in Euros...Additionally,FFL,that was trading the same setup, since I am mentoring him,can confirm and post his trades if he wishes to do so ,he had some issue with internet connection today,so,today`s trade will be probably different, but yesterday ones are practically the same, with small differences since he uses another broker.

Looks like the cycle is working very well..I didn`t take the last trade, long, was waiting for a better entry point and confirmation by other indicators..obviously should have taken it
Simba,
Thank you for continuing the essence of this board and helping all of us learn. You're a true teacher. When i get time today i will definetly work with this.
Best,
cl
Well,...i have attempted to create these cycles....and i am "off" in how they look....i will post the steps i took, and hopefully we can find out what i did "wrong"....hopefully everyone can learn from this.
I created 2 sets of cycles. I used both method 1 and method 2.
Method 1 is the top set of cycles, method 2 is the bottom ( in the picture).
I can't post spectrum analysis( i don't have a crop tool)...so here we go.
For method 1, i found at 14.02.08 18:30 to 21.02.08 at 2:00 (30 min eurjpy) a peak of 42. It covered 205 bars of data. Using method 1, i made the 4 numbers (going in order) 37,41,43,51. 37 and 51 were the valleys. I then went to a 15 minute analysis, and found a peak around 80. I figured it was close enough to the cycle from the 30 minute. So, i made the following cycle - 70,79,81,90. Again, 70 and 90 were the valleys.
For method 2, i basically performed the same process, except i ran the spectrum to find 4 peaks in the results. No spectrum had more than 210 bars in it. For the 30 minute, i found peaks at 10,43,51,56. For the 15 minute, i found them at 21,59,80,112.
I'm not sure if i have followed the right process. Simba they do not seem to "fit" yours ( no pun intended). I will post the indicators as well.
Looking forward to your response.

clIs truth red? Sometimes....
Is truth red? Sometimes....
i'm afraid i don't understand.....112 is 56x2....which would explain method 1?....or these numbers are simply not accurate "all of the time"....so i need to find better peaks and valleys?
thanks,
cl
I'm rereading chapter 11 and the appendix of hursts book....perhaps i can find some info in there as well.....may as well fish in every pond :-)

You had a fractal cycle, don`t waste it ,truth is red indeed ..use it in the right pond..56 and 112 look like 2 winners.
Happy thread.
