Vary number of bars on Chart

Hey there,
how can I vary the number of bars on the current Chart? I only found the zoom in/zoom out function to get more/less bars; and of course switching timeframes. This is not accurate enough for me though .. any way to vary the number of bars on a chart by determining this number individually? I couldn't find any helpful information on that by searching the forums... does anybody have a script for that or am I just overlooking something?!
