Two questions,

1. How can I find out what effect the last closed trade had on account equity?
2. How can I obtain the equity history? (if at all).

1. If You trade with only one trade simultaneously then last balanse is equivalent equity at position closing. Last balance - last postion profit = equity at position opening. Analyze price move between open and close of the last position for calculate equity minimum and equity maximum when position was opened.

2. Backward analyze of closed trades. Too complex task
