Elite indicators :) - page 537

Hello Mladen and Mr Tools,

In hindsight I don't necessarily need an MTF version of RSX MA FullSSA, however, I had been testing the indicator using Trade Simulator 3 on 4hr timeframe for two reasons: to see if I could trade it profitably (which I did) and to see the extent of the SSA redraw. I don't think i'll incorporate it but it did give me an idea which leads to another question...

Is it possible to test an MTF version of FullSSA indicator using a trade simulator? My idea is to test the validity of confluent signals for FullSSA between 4Hr and 1Hr timeframes. It's not a bad idea but I have no 'proof'. Since FullSSA recalculates I can't do it visually.

The simulator will allow me to test the indicator on a timeframe but won't allow an MTF setting of that indicator on another timeframe simultaneously. I can attach other MTf indicators though, for example, I tested a strategy using your High-Low activator (which I love btw) and that worked very well. I also tried testing various 4hr MTF MAs with 1Hr FullSSA as a comparison which was interesting.

The problem is that the simulator won't allow MTF of FullSSA. Is there another way to approach this or a possible solution?

Is there any possible way to do this?

Thankyou for your help,

Graham.

bbandwidthratio indicator

Here it is

Some changes : added smoothing to avoid some "roughness" of standard deviations. If you want to turn the smoothing off, just set the Smooth period to equal or less than 1. The parameter of interest to you is the alertsBarsInSameDirectionparameter. In it you specify the number of bars that have the same direction after direction change. If that number of bars is met, alerts is raised. Counting is done in the target time frame (this is a mtf indicator already)
Tested it and as far as I see it works OK

mladen

is it possible to repost the original bbandwidthratio indicator please for some comparisons? I'm having problem locating it. thanks alot.

FullSSA calculates values for the current bar only and that is why it can not work in mtf mode. Some explanation : when calling a multi time frame indicator from a strategy tester it "calls" the original time frame in which already there are future bars (compared to the bars simulated to the strategy tester) and FullSSA calculates only values that are yet to be reached by strategy tester, and that is why they are not seen in strategy tester. It (that way of calculation) is done so in order to avoid CPU bottleneck that would otherwise happen

As of SSA redrawing : there is a simple rule. If number of computations is set to 1 then it can change last lag bars. If the number of computations is greater than 1 then all of the values can be changed
