I'm on the autism spectrum myself, with the mild case of aspergers. I trade leveraged FX for years, and have found my strategies to be based on a mix of fundamental, mathematical, and technical approaches. Given the notoriously analytical nature of that, I’d find these strategies to be of more common use to those on the spectrum.
Being one of them, we usually tend to be very good systematizers and optimizers, may or may not be relevant to the fact that I have my own way of trading. Obviously, one will not beat the market while trading the same as a lot of other people, but merely being erratic for its own sake won’t beat the market either.
I can naturally go into a somewhat robotic mindset. Being still, not speaking, not needing any social interaction, etc… all for very long periods of time. I could easily go months without talking to another person or being around anyone and it wouldn’t bother me at all. In fact I often crave it. Along with that, I excel at developing a system of how to do things and repeating that robotically the same way every time.
This is above average over the long term, and depends on certain skills I have that in turn stem from my relatively unusual personality and education, so probably being an aspie is relevant to my trading.
