Ping results on metatrader vps much higher than quoted

The quoted ping is .6ms to my broker but when I signed up and check on the mt4 platform, it is actually about 52ms to a DC server. What am I doing wrong?
Also, it appears this is not a windows server and can only run one mt4 account at a time on the server? I'm asking this question because I'm setting up a new mt4 account now and trying to decide if I want to proceed with all the setup here. I already have another mt4 platform running on a windows vps that is pinging at .98ms. So I could just add this new server to my windows vps and get similar ping results rather than using the metatrader4 vps that appears to ping at 52ms. I feel like I've been misled by the .6ms quote since the server is actually pinging 52ms.
