too much text from you sorry.

Do you started this thread against me so I should be publicly responsible for what I am doing, right?

You are too aggressive person.
Slow down your aggresive behavious (your behavious as the following: "I am going to f*ck anyone who do not agree with me") -
and everything will be fine.

-------------------

I want to remind once again that this oerson si started this thread just because I deleted 2 or 3 his posts.

I can tell you one story ...
I was banned here on the forum - for one week.
Yes, I was the moderator in this time ...

--------------------

Was you banned here on the forum?
Not?
Why?

Admins here are ruthless about moderating product and broker discussions because if they allow any, then there will be a flood.

Same goes for animated gifs. If not stopped, it will soon become competition who has prettiest one.

What would you say if somebody starts to add something else, e.g. porn pics, "shady" politics, questionable caricatures? Just because Metaquotes didn't put it on the list of things that should not be published, does it mean we should flood the forum with those?

And finally, if you don't like the moderation policies, you can raise the question with admins, and if not satisfied with answer, you can "take your business elsewhere".

As for stealing attention - I'm not reading the forum on my phone, I do it on 32" screens and browser is at least half of the monitor wide, so at any time I have at least two thirds of the page visible, so end of a thread is usually visible.

Since we are discussing this openly - what value do these animated gifs add to the conversation here?
I might understand gif that shows some trading action or some Metatrader interaction, but scenes from the Office?

What's that about?

You are using extreme examples so i'll use an extreme one too :

What value does using emoticon faces has ?

Even extremest , what value does being polite have on a technical forum ?

So this is what the "office" gifs achieve . The same thing on a slightly different manner .

But i understand how a gif can be annoying on a wide screen That is a very valid argument , nothing to counter it with .

I can repeat:

this thread was started because of the following:
I deleted your 2 or 3 posts with your gifs.
And you try for me to me publicly responsible for this action ..

I posted the rules for you about moderators ... you do not care ...

--------------------

Can you please slow down your aggression here to all of us?

The rules about mods . Ow you are saying that if i don't stop you'll ban me and you are sprinkling it with justification .

Okay then . I'll stop bringing up this very real issue if you want to .

Done . i'm stopping . Your threat works

ps: if you delete it please send what Arpit said about users being afraid to post publicly to the admins . At least. Thanks

You are avoiding an answer.

Can you explain what value animated gif adds to your post?

Moving images make reading topic text harder.

So, is there any benefit of the animations that would counter the degradation of the reading experience?

You do not understand ...

I am newdigital from tsd forum.
And one day MetaQuotes decided to disclose my name and my country ... no problem ...

And I (newdigital from tsd ) am telling you: slow down please.
Slow down!

--------------------

You are doing very good job here on the forum (and everybody knows it).
But this thread about 2 or 3 gifs ... please ...

I would like to suggest:

Step 1: All moderators should discuss between themselves if non-related GIFs should be allowed or not.

Step 2:

    • a) If it is decided that is should not be allowed, then please add it to the forum rules, so that it is enforceable as a policy.
    • b) If it is allowed but in moderation, then please add the limitations to the forum rules, so it is clear and objective, and not left to any subjective opinion.
    • c) If it is allowed completely with no censorship, then please adhere to it and let all moderators follow that.

As for my preference, I find large GIFs a distraction. I believe a simple emoji is enough to convey emotions when needed. However, that is only my preference and I am not against anyone one that wishes to express themselves in that way with larger non-related GIF animations. Some like it and others don’t. I wish to believe that some freedom of speech should be allowed, but in moderation.

I am alright with whichever way a decision goes, whether it be allowed or not, but if my suggestion were a poll, I would vote for option (b) above.

I don't think the use of GIFs needs to be debated among moderators. As I said before, it is quite logical.

If they are abused and inserted in every comment or done to annoy the moderators, as has been the case with Lorentzos these days (he admitted to doing it on purpose to "unmask" those who annoy him, something that I personally find very childish on his part), let him abide by the consequences.

We are in a technical forum about a platform and a programming language focused on trading. A bit of seriousness and respect for ALL readers and users. People here are not looking for entertainment, they are mostly looking for solutions to problems.

I'm 99% sure that a large majority of readers are annoyed by GIFs or don't care about them, so if for a large majority they don't contribute anything or even bother them, what are we talking about, what is there to debate, just because Lorentzos wants to? It is absurd...

Lorentzos, only you make use of GIFs, and only you are fighting for something that bothers only you. Honestly, if I were you, I'd rethink the situation.

I insist on what I said yesterday...a well placed GIF can be funny. But flooding the forum with GIFs in every comment to also annoy the moderators when you were aware that they were being deleted.... Do you really need it to be in the rules or do you need an official statement? Ridiculous...
