Still the fifth digit helps. You can buy 1.10501 and close at 1.10502 and be in the black. Sometimes, there are moments when you change your mind, or you feel that you are in the wrong place (or just for beautiful statistics). And the pips are quite applicable here
... and you'll be at a disadvantage because of the spread.
Definition
This has always been the definition of those in the know... I remember this definition from 2006 and you can find it on many online resources now... Anything else is "trending guru" nonsense....Screw all these thumb-done internet resources...
Fudge all these thumb-made resources. Progres have only one resource - API
SYMBOL_POINT
value of a single point
double
So point and all the rest to the hercic, m-m-m-m-m to the devil!
... and you'll be at a disadvantage because of the spread.
... ...and you'll be out of pocket because of the spread.
If you do, it won't be because of the spread, but because of the commission. Because opening and closing involves different Bid and Ask prices depending onthe direction of the trade.

Sorry, but this definition reeks of blatant idiocy. Somehow it should be defined - the minimum available change or a specific one - 1 ten thousandth.
... and you'll be at a disadvantage because of the spread.
Yep, almost all of those who wrote off do not distinguish between the percentage point and the minimum point in the terminal (e.g. the moderators of the forum and the developers with ratings over 100K).
And these are forum moderators and developers who have rating more than 100K.
In MT4 and MT5 there are only pips as a minimum possible price change and there are no percentage points at all.
There has never been any such thing. There is no "pip" or "pips" in the terminal, nor any other jargon from homegrown experts.
There is only one point - the minimal possible price change. Point.
And it is Point(). The value of this point shows by how much the price changes.
The same reasoning can be applied to the calculation of price for each pip: the difference in the values of points and points with a fixed distance to each other. When the value of one point suddenly becomes 0.000001, what else will they come up with? Micrick?
Vladimir, please don't be like that.
There are two specific concepts:
1. The minimum unit of measure for the value of a rate is a point.
2. The minimum unit of rate change is a tick. There are symbols where the price changes by 5 points at a time.
