Andrei:
Well, what exactly do they do in monasteries? Praying for their own health and wealth? What's the point otherwise?

Here's a couple of Perov's paintings on the subject.) One can see that the dude strongly loves and respects church ))))

Mickey Moose:

The trader's ability to make a profit on currency fluctuations is not good for society either

You are wrong to think so.

All the big DCs - they give jobs to thousands of people. And they are obviously happy that there are traders who play on currency fluctuations.

In addition, if one currency is appreciated against the other it means that the first currency is in more demand, and traders invest in this currency, thus accelerating the development of the economy.

nahdi:

So for whom does it matter? And why ? Does it have to make sense?

What are we talking about? The philosophical category of usefulness? Or about how to measure intelligence?

I measure it by its usefulness to society. Accordingly, society is important. Because usefulness to society allows the needs of its representatives to be fulfilled to the fullest.

but for the most part, the speculators are just plucking crumbs

or else they can be compared to rats stealing grain from the world's mill

In theory, rats also participate in the global ecosystem and may even do some good.

PS the rat thing is just an analogy

and by the way rats are very biologically efficient

nahdi:

A monkey's ability to do numbers from 0 to 9 doesn't make it highly intelligent... it doesn't make it useful to society... and certainly the absence of these qualities does not make it impossible for it to make those numbers.

If there is no benefit to society, there is no intelligence, one might think. This intelligence turns out to be like "energetic" molecules inside the body. There is no use for them. It's the same whether you have them or not. That's how it is with this intelligence. There is no point in discussing whether there is intelligence or not, if society does not benefit from it.

The possessor of this intellect himself is also a part of society and if he is useful to society, the sum of his usefulness to society is clearly greater. But, nevertheless, if we discard these extreme cases, the average benefit to society is well reflected in the person's income.

I think it's naive that traders change rates, the main purpose of forex, as well as the securities market in general, is the withdrawal of effective demand from the consumer market in order to reduce inflation, that's where the excitement starts, many people do not withdraw the money, but just count the virtual profit, and there they plum and have a new cycle of dream :)) how many of their successful traders? And they reinvest their profits

theoretically, rats are also part of the global ecosystem and may even do some good.

So rats do contribute to the recycling of resources in the biosphere!

Moreover - if all the rats suddenly disappeared (say, from an epizootic), this would, I think, lead to significant changes in the ecosystem.

Probably yes, speculators have already become an integral part of society and the financial system, in fact they have been there all known history, and if now suddenly eliminating them would probably break something on a global scale...

So what? There is no difference...

The very role of brokerage companies is to redeem small rates of single traders internally and put on the market only consolidated offers. If the brokerage company redeems all deals within the brokerage company at the moment, this means that currencies do not need investment. Consequently, the money does not go anywhere.
