To get a better understanding of hedge funds and the industry in general, read Schwager's "Exchange Magicians", Coppell's "Bulls, Bears and Millionaires", and "Quants as Wizards".
Hedge funds arose, among other things, because of limitations. For example, in pifs, a certain portion needs to be in stocks and bonds all the time and derivatives trades are not possible.
However, there are ofbuses that allow futures, and most importantly, they can short sell, i.e. in moments of crisis they can hedge their entire portfolio by selling futures on an index. It's true I haven't seen a single offshore fund that beat the stock index in terms of profitability.

There is no difference in terms of the equity curve, but there is in terms of the balance curve. if you close an order and put it into the lock, it will look different in your test. There is a lot to say about locking, but the lock creates the illusion that all is not lost and you can get out, which many traders take at face value by creating a lock position, rather than closing it.Sincerely.

Can you speak to a man in a language he does not understand?
Can a toddler understand you if you talk to him about maths?
could a first grader understand you when you tell him about trigonometric functions?
Could a researcher understand you if you spoke to him in a Mayan dialect?
You should speak to any person in a language that is understandable to him and use those terms that are clear to him and do not require additional information.

The first part is good too. But, again, it's about near-trading, I haven't seen any films about trading itself.
